TOYMAN!

Winslow Schott was an English toymaker who loved nothing more than to make toys for children. When he lost his job at John Bull Toys, he was devastated. When he learned that Lex Luthor was responsible, he swore revenge.

Schott's first attempt on Luthor's life, using an exploding toy airplane, was stopped by Superman. The Toyman went underground after this, but his disappearance was short-lived. He was tracked down by Morgan Edge and pressed into service with Intergang.

With access to their funding and Apokoliptian technology, the Toyman soon resurfaced with a new, more diabolical scheme, targeting the children of several wealthy and affluent Lexcorp employees. Toyman kidnapped these children and brought them to his hideout in an abandoned amusement park in Metropolis.

Superman tracked the missing children to the amusement park, where he battled Intergang soldiers. The children were reunited with their parents, and Winslow Schott was taken into custody. Soon after this, however, Intergang helped him to escape, and teamed him with rogue scientist Thaddeus Killgrave. Together, Killgrave and the Toyman refit Intergang's base of operations under the Playland theme park. But when an altercation with Superman came close to hurting innocent children who had come to the park, the Toyman shut the operation down.

Toyman went into hiding after that, and all but disappeared. His reemergence, however, was truly horrifying. It began with the kidnapping of a handful of children, including Adam Grant, son of GBS correspondent (and ex-Daily Planet staffer) Catherine Grant. When Adam tried to escape, Toyman brutally murdered him and the other children he'd kidnapped.

Superman tracked Toyman down and discovered that he was completely insane. He brought the villain to prison, where he has remained ever since.
