Christopher Reeve Arrives in Israel

Actor and social advocate Christopher Reeve arrived yesterday for a five-day fact-finding mission on developments in Israeli research and treatments for spinal injuries as well as a series of visits with Israeli terror victims recovering from serious injuries.

Reeve, who achieved fame by playing "Superman" in films, sustained serious spinal injuries in an equestrian competition in 1995 and has since become a leading advocate in the search for treatments and a cure for paralysis. He said upon his arrival: "It is my great honor to be here and to have come to this wonderful part of the world. This is a very special place. There are a lot of people here who are suffering, but also a lot of people who are recovering."

Superman Rumors Flying High

Newsarma comfirms that BRIAN AZZARELLO and JIM LEE will be the new creative team on Superman beginning March 2004. Details

Markisan Naso's All the Rage column reports on the Grant Morrison rumor:
    New Sons of Krypton

Since the recent announcement that Grant Morrison signed an exclusive two-year contract with DC there has been a lot of speculation that he will takeover a Superman title.

Well, according to reliable sources, Morrison is an absolute lock on Superman. No real surprise there. But get this, multiple informants also say that Grant will be partnered with superstar artist Jim Lee, who will be pulled from his previously announced second run on Batman to do the book.

But wait, there’s more, my wide-eyed, bib-needy friends.
For the full low-down, read the complete column.

And Rich Johnston reports on many other rumors:
    WORLD'S FINEST

So who are going to be the new creative teams on Superman?

I hear that DC are hoping their Superman news will blow whatever Marvel's Chicago announcements out of the water - but they seemed to have been in flux lately.

I'm also aware of disinformation being planted, DC's ambitions being mistaken for DC's achievements by some, and a general level of confusion. Be warned. No really, be warned.

Al Gough talks 'Smallville'

In a new interview, Al Gough explains how they could use some music from SUPERMAN: THE MOVIE in Smallville.  He also tells what's coming up in Season three.
One of the best moves in the second season of "Smallville" was the decision to use the John Williams "Superman" theme in key mythology-building scenes of the series.  Executive producer Alfred Gough said producers got lucky they could afford to use the theme.

"It was recorded in England and it was much easier to get because you don't have to pay as much in royalties," Gough said.  "If it was recorded in L.A., you have to pay every musician who worked on it.  That's why so many movie scores are recorded overseas.  That was a lucky break for us.  We said, 'Be prepared to do the version that won't get you sued.'"
Be warned that the interview contains spoilers for season three!
